GAM740 Week 1:01 Researching the briefs
I am currently looking for a live brief on which to work and so far I have researched the following projects :-
I have researched this project thoroughly and there are many directions in which I could develop the concept beyond simply replicating a VR Studio.
I am considering whether this project fits with my commercial focus sarra.tv (and potentially my new site Human9.com) or would be a collaborative project which would fit with my own experimental practice sarrahornby.com.
I would prefer to work in collaboration with another student on this project. One who would like to work on a VR project, is open to experimentation and would compliment my front end design skills.
FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) Projects
https://www.miradi.org/ -
http://wheelmap.org/ - locates wheelchair access sites
http://www.mwater.co/ - Encourages the user to drink more water
http://celestia.sourceforge.net/ -
https://www.sugarlabs.org/ - Python children’s e-learning project
https://www.glucosio.org/ - Java/Objective C Project which links to research and helps to manage glucose levels
http://www.epicollect.net/ -
https://github.com/scorelab/D4D---Drone-4-Dengue - dormant for 11 months
https://github.com/stark-contrast/stark-sketch-plugin - I have a family member who is colour blind and could really use this in my own web design projects.
Mystery Brief
I may have an opportunity to develop an App Prototype with a local business as an added-value product to their current marketing plan. This app could solve a particular product misconception and could generate further traffic to their existing marketing provision.
This brief would be subject to approval.
NB: This project is about acquiring the relevant technical skills and meeting my SMART goal objectives within the tight timescale of the project; but essentially it is about meeting the brief, delivering on key time markers, communicating in a clear and timely manner as well as working in collaboration with the commissioner and colleagues.
Seven Items - Psychology Utility App
Porthmeor Studios
